Strait-Line's claim that this is "the most capable laser level ever built" is an invitation to skepticism, but folks, after spending a little time with this model, we think it's true. Yes, there are other laser levels on the market that project both a horizontal and vertical line, but we've never seen one that lets you access the exact point of intersection?-this one does, so every job gets off to a flawless start. And flawless it is, because the Intersect self-levels within 8 degrees on a vertical surface. All you have to do is attach it to the wall (more on that in a minute) as close to vertical as you can, and Strait-Line's amazing technology projects perfectly level and plumb lines with zero guesswork for a 30 foot total horizontally and 20 feet vertically. (We'll do the math for you: That's a 600 square foot work area.) Mind you, the auto-leveling feature works on a vertical surface only, but use on the floor doesn't require leveling anyway. Another feature to love is that it leaves no marks on the wall; there are no pins to push in. Instead, Strait-Line has incorporated 3M's revolutionary Command Adhesive. Just peel, stick and remove the whole shebang when you're done, without a trace. Accuracy is outstanding, to within +/- 1/8 inch at 15 feet. This is a great tool for just about anybody, from contractors and cabinet installers to art galleries, builders, home decorators and of course, the intrepid do-it-yourselfer.--Kris Jensen-Van Heste

Strait-Line 6041300CD Intersect 1/8-Inch at 15 Feet Self Leveling Crossed Line Laser Reviews
Just a few feet of projected line seems functionally equivalent to a point. A single picture is easy enough with a vial level, and this laser level won't project a long enough line to use for a wall full of frames.
It's never very bright, and rapidly fades away from the center. Unfortunately, the laser beam is very weak.
I really don't see how reviewers can compare this laser level to similar "professional" ones. After reading some of the raving reviews and seeing that the level was available real cheap, I decided it was worth a try; I thought I'd use it to help level some joists while refinishing my attic.
As other reviewers have suggested, if you need a laser level (to make snapping chalk lines a one-person job, for example), you're much better off spending real money to get a real level to project either a line or a few points at right angles to each other. In fact, I can't even see using it to hang pictures.
So while it may be visible out to ten feet (the product claims 20), you only get a visible line on either side of the center cross for a few degrees.
If the lasers went just alittle further. Batteries seem to last a good while too. It would be 5 stars all around.
Great product. Wouldn't hesitate to buy from again. Excellent seller - great communication, lightning fast shipping. Can really come in handy.
It self-leveled with repeatability, referenced against a 6' True Blue level. I just used this laser level to install new kitchen cabinets. Issues are availability and cost of strips. Good luck. The adhesive strips are one-time use items, so you have to buy more if you use them. When attached to the middle of a 14 foot wall the laser level makes it easy to identify elevation variations in a floor by allowing you to measure from the floor to the laser line at intervals along the wall, which is useful in cabinet installation. In a real world application, such a installing cabinets, I believe that this laser level probably delivers a more accurate result than a bubble level because it is stationary when attached to the wall and doesn't rely on the human eye to exactly center a bubble or someone holding the level exactly still.
The two levels were in exact agreement, at far as I could see. I bought mine (new) at an auction site for about $16 including shipping. This is especially true when the distance leveled is longer than the bubble level, requiring the stick level to be moved to mark a line around a room. Tool attaches to vertical surfaces using 3M adhesive strips which can be removed without surface damage. This tool is a useful bargain for the DIY crowd, who can't justify the cost of a self-leveling rotary laser. Our bubble levels may be accurate to.0029 degrees, but how many of us can read a bubble and place a line on a wall with that degree of accuracy on a repeatable basis. I'm a DIY guy.
The True Blue level is guaranteed to be accurate within.0005 inch/inch or.0029 degrees. A very useful tool, especially for the low cost. Great for working alone and of course no damage is good. In the "locked" mode I can see where this tool would be great for floor tile or other 90 degree layout projects.
