The Ultimate Mulcher quickly recycles yard and garden waste into nutrient rich mulch, solving the disposal problem. The wide 21-inch diameter funnel swallows leaves as fast as you can feed them, mincing them down to fine mulch. This little unit is surprisingly powerful, and at only 17 pounds it?s so light you can mount it atop a trash can or bungee-cord a plastic bag to the outfeed and collect the waste. Out of the box, it goes together literally in minutes with just a screwdriver. The hopper tilts to 45 degrees to make loading easier, and the sliding control lever is easy to read, with settings for grass, thatch, wet leaves, dry leaves and pine needles. Double cutting lines are powered by an 8-amp motor on regular household current, and the motor intake filter comes out easily for cleaning. This is the second Flotron Leaf Eater that I have purchased. It works just "as advertised." It's perfect. The new one is easier to use and works "GREAT." I definitely reccommend this product for anyone who wants to shred and compost leaves. The first one has to be 20 years old, and is still going strong.
Jams easily. Not an efficient piece of equipment. Clearing the jam could cost you a finger.
Don't overload the hopper, give it time to digest, and all will be well. If you want to mulch leaves, this is the product for you. Keep those sticks out. The only tool required is a Philips screw driver. My sycamores produce alot of dust, so a dust mask is indispensible. 5 stars. If it is used according to instructions, it performs quite well. This machine performed exactly as described.
Ease of assembly: What could be easier. A quality product for the price. If you want to grind twigs and branches, get something else. It is, after all, just a weed wacker on steroids.
I am very pleased with the purchase and it will be getting a workout again in the spring. I have over 30 very lark Oak trees and a hand full of pines on my 1 acre lot and when the leafs come down, not only do I get all of mine but all of the surrounding trees too. I didn't want to spend a couple of thousand on a mulcher to pull behind my tractor, beides there are some areas I can't get into. It amazed me to see it work in person and how simple it was to operate and change the strings. So I bought this after reading many reviews and watching some video's.
immediately remove any sticks, it cant digest sticks all it does is strip them raw, gum up the works and break the cutting strings. keep one nice stick , oh about 3/4"diam x 2ft long to stir the leaves in the bin, scraping the edges as it spins this much enhances the process.
dont stuff in the leaves, fill it lightly, it works better and faster that way. 1.
The flowtron leaf ultimate mulcher ate its way through 1/2 acre of leaves. We learned a couple of tricks.
We set it on "Fine" and the result is a nice leaf mulch which we have been spreading under our trees and adding to our compost bin 3.
