Now with my Flowtron I've found the salamanders in the floor eating termites happily (where the termites fall after shock). :-). This lamp is gorgeous, I must say. Since I have my Flowtron this situation became a bad memory of the past. I installed it just right out of my window, so the termites are attracted FIRST by the Flowtron light BEFORE the light on my room. Yes sir., "roasted" termites for my friends the salamanders in my own Roasted Termite Restaurant.
The construction of the lamp is very decent; even it looks great as if it were part of the deco in my backyard. So now the only thing I hear is the happy sound "BZZZ" when the bugs find their end into this glorious lamp. Between me and my 28" monitor screen -which produces a lot of light- used to fly hundred of termites. This is a custom installation I did myself). Even I love when it sounds because it (first) confirms me the Flowtron is working in a perfect shape, and (second) makes me smile every time it sounds because it means I WON my fight against those little bastards. These bugs are attracted by the light, and I don't know how but they always found the way to violate the security of my sealed window to come inside my room and "dance" in front of my face. This Flowtron bugs killer works FANTASTIC. In conclusion, this is the BEST solution I've found to solve my problem.
I bought also a replacement bulb (in advance) because when the actual one goes out I don't want to find myself unprotected. And because of the difference in our GMT I use to work at nights more than ever. I have international customers so this means I work days and nights very frequently. Very convenient. I got the ½ acre coverage; my backyard is much smaller than that and this thing works perfect. Thanks for reading, Juan Since I got my Flowtron just 15 days ago I can't testify how long the bulb lasts, but honestly I don't care.; if this thing works as it has demonstrated I'll be happy to buy more future replacements, even if this come to happen in short periods.
Btw that "BZZZ" sound does not disturb me at all. I am graphic designer. That means 100 termites LESS who didn't come inside. They just don't eat enough to solve my problem, but they eat termites anyway.
To end my review, I want to share with you that I have a lovely population of salamanders (small lizard) in my backyard. Here, while I write this review, I could count more than 100 "BZZZ". I just can't find the words to express how annoying this situation was.
(Note: the switch is NOT included in the Flowtron box. They are my allied because these little guys use to hunt termites. I installed a switch inside my room which controls the on/off of my Flowtron, so even I don't need to go out to my backyard to turn on my Flowtron, I control all the operation from the inside.
I'm too afraid to turn it off now. When reading the warranty it says that I would have to return it to the manufacturer for the starter to be replaced. Luckily for me I was able to jiggle and play with it till it started again and left it on. The product worked for the first 3 months then when I unplugged it for the first time it for relocation the product would not restart. I thought it was the bulb but it was actually the starter which is soldered directly on. Item works though that is why I gave it 3 STARS.just suffers from a bad design.oh dear. This was going to cost a lot in shipping.
Bought my first unit 4 years ago. Great price at Amozon.com. Liked it so much, I bought a second.
We have a very shady yard with low spots in the back, so the mosquitoes are terrible. A few days after we first put the zapper up in the back yard, my son & I were able to play on the back patio for over an hour before the mosquitoes started heading for us instead of the zapper. The Flowtron bug zapper works very wellI may have to get another one for the front. We love the Flowtron. We're usually lucky to get 5-10 minutes before we start slapping, so this was a real treat. We wanted the Flowtron because we wanted the mosquito bait, and it really invites them in.
The Flowtron Model BK15D is ideal for the typical backyard. I will be purchasing another Flowtron for my other home that I go to on the weekends. I also have a competitor's electronic insect killer and it has a mesh grill that I have to clean every two weeks. The vertical electric grill is self cleaning.
