Fiskars Post Hole Digger #9653
The Fiskars post hole digger features a unique handle profile that prevents you from banging your knuckles together when digging holes. The offset handles allow you to dig a full foot deeper than standard post hole diggers (up to 4-feet deep), while its all-steel construction lets you tackle the tough jobs. Pre-sharpened to cut through the ground easier, the unit's blades are welded directly to the shaft for additional strength, and the entire tool is powder-coated to prevent rust.

Fiskars Post Hole Digger #9653 Reviews
Product worked very well in my gumbo soil. I would recommend for purchase. The tool was sharp and easy to use.
It's a great design and very well-built, and made my project possible. I couldn't seem to dig past about 30" with traditional post-hole diggers, but with this tool can easily go about four feet deep.
None of the tools pull out more than a few handfuls at a time. This is a useful tool but don't throw out the cheapo wooden handled digger. The hinges however are further from the cutting edges causing them to come together more parallel; because of this, loose loads tend to slip from the jaws more as you are pulling it out. I am presently using three post hole diggers for a large deck project. For the shallower dirt I use the wooden handled tool mainly because it is lighter which I think is the most important consideration. The narrow blade of the Fiskar is great for shaving the sides of the hole and creating ledges. You expend most of your energy pulling the tool out of the hole and if it is heavy, you'll wear out quick.
Wood or fiberglass handles usually break or separate from the digging head after only a few uses. This will make a slightly larger diameter hole than a conventional digger, so you will need a bit more concrete for fill. The all-steel construction is very sturdy, I expect this to last for years. Lightweight and easy to use. Will dig a deeper hole in less time than a conventional digger. I recommend gluing them on. The only drawback is the signature orange handles slip off when lifting a load of soil. It's almost impossible to bang your knuckles together when using this.
WHY DID IT TAKE SO LONG FOR THIS PRODUCT. NO NEED TO DIG OUT THE SHOULDERS TO GO BELOW 30" PERFECT FOR SINKING DEEP POSTS.
